I’ve collaborated with 85 industry and academic leaders from fashion, textiles, and environmental science to visualise the leaks within the textile ecosystem—those messy, hidden dispersions of fibres and chemicals into our air, water, and soil.

This illustration emerged from a workshop at the Futures Fibres Network Plus (FFN+) townhall at The Design Museum. Rather than idealizing perfectly ‘circular’ value chains, we chose to represent the uncomfortable truths: the complexity, the fragmentation, and the potential for transformation.

Guided by the insights of participants, we mapped the flows and frictions between people, materials, and environments. The image is intentionally provocative—designed to spark dialogue and help reimagine the textile system for a more sustainable future.
